Following many years as a storage tanker, the MT Tanker spent some years anchored. During cleaning operations before going a demolishing voyage she suffered an explosion and was onfire for some time. Remedial actions were planned after thoroughly inspecting the condition of the vessel. Contractors were employed to pump out tanks to have the vessel return to an upright position.

The vessel was later successfully towed to a demolition site.
